Printing on the
backside of carpets

Definition of Task

On the heavily absorbent backside of the carpets, the manufacturing date, the batch number and a weave direction arrow is printed
The carpet passes under the six print heads at a speed of approximately 8 m/min (26 feet/min)

The backside of carpets is marked with a luminous pink pigmented water based ink, which provides for an excellent contrast on both light or dark coloured textures and results in a good readable text
To avoid condensation within the print heads caused by the extreme temperature differences between the carpet surface (up to 75° Celsius / 167° Fahrenheit) and the far lower ambient air temperature, the inside of the sealed print head is placed under 0,3 bar (4,35 psi) air pressure by means of an external air supply
