Contact-free, Clean and Exact

Demands on the tolerances of injection-moulded parts are closely related to the associated individual part price. The more exact, the more expensive. In order to compensate for such tolerances during assembly processes, a small drop of oil is sometimes found to be helpful. It must, however, be applied precisely and exactly. A typical example is in the manufacturing of pens, using rotational mechanical techniques. The oil also prevents any squeaking during screwing or unscrewing, and makes the pulling-off and secure attaching of the cap easier.

In order to apply oil or other media, in exact quantities, on an automatic production line, REA Elektronik has developed special single-jet spray-mark systems. They are designed for use in conjunction with low- viscosity media, operate in a contact-free manner, and the dot and line widths vary from 0.2 to 3 mm. The standard EDS System has been conceived for printing dots and so-called dot-lines ( “pearlstrings” ).

The user can choose from five jet sizes, from 80 to 350 μm, dependent upon the viscosity of the oil and the required quantity to be applied.

In addition, there is a potentiometer for fine-adjusting. A Heavy-Duty version is also available, which is manufactured entirely in stainless steel, operates with a moving plunger, and offers optimum drop recognition, thus allowing for seamless quality control; for instance, during the application of flux, when brazing or welding.

 

The ink supply type offered is mainly dependent upon whether pigments are present in the printing medium, or not. If so, the ink is continuously circulated, so that the pigments cannot settle or be deposited. For both versions, the user can choose between connection to a pressurized air line or to a small integrated electrical compressor. There are different solutions as regards control: whereas the standard system uses the also-delivered Controller EDS SG1/1, third generation (EDS-P) uses the customer’s own SPS to control the pneumatics of a 3/2-way valve.

It is important for the customer be aware that REA Elektronik is not only the supplier, but also manufactures the equipment; and that the stocking of spare parts occurs at the company’s headquarters in Germany.
