"Our fabric saves lives"

In their 14th video, the Marking Professionals from REA Elektronik show how airbags are produced and their reliability is ensured

Mühltal, May 16, 2022 - "Quality is our A&O - our fabric saves lives." This is what Birgit Zauner, Head of Quality Management at UTT Technische Textilien GmbH & Co. in Krumbach, says about the "Marking Professionals" from REA Elektronik. What kind of fabric it is, how it is made and, above all, how its quality is assured and documented, is what Daniel Wege (Business Development Manager) and Frank Debusmann (Sales Director national Coding and Marking Systems) saw for themselves on site. The resulting new video from the series "Marking Professionals on Site" is online as of today.

Wege sums it up: "You always have it with you and hope you'll never see it - the airbag." And when it does open, it's supposed to provide reliable protection. A single airbag? "Modern cars can have up to twelve or even more," explains Zauner. The variety ranges from front, side and knee airbags to curtain airbags, which spread out over the side of the vehicle like a curtain. UTT also produces textiles for parachutes, but is primarily regarded as a pioneer and trailblazer in the development of airbag fabrics.

Reliable marking of a "not very simple fabric"

The Marking Professionals find it exciting to see how the fabric is refined after production for the individual function of various airbags and how its quality is assured. And above all, they take a closer look at how serialized marking can be used to find out everything necessary about the fabric within a very short time: From which yarn it was produced at which time, with which process steps, all the way to the question of who operated the machine. How UTT reliably puts all this information onto the "not very simple fabric" (Debusmann) and why the company chose REA JET as its technology partner - all this can be seen in the latest video of the Marking Professionals.

Now that the Marking Professionals can go on tour again, the series can also continue. And if all goes according to plan, another video "Marking Professionals on Site" will go online on the REA website (www.rea-jet.com) on June 15. Fans of the series and all those who are professionally involved in industrial coding and marking can therefore look forward to seeing what it's all about then.
