Reliable marking and code verification for the food industry

Everything from a single source: REA Elektronik presents its solutions for direct printing, labeling and verification at Anuga FoodTec 2024

A key question at Anuga FoodTec 2024 is: How can the global food and beverage industry become fit for the future? Industrial marking solutions can support traceability, consumer information and logistics: with digital direct printing, labeling and code verification - preferably from a single source, such as the full-range supplier REA Elektronik.

The new 2D code is one of the various challenges facing the food and beverage industry. The pixel square is set to replace the 1D EAN code worldwide and put an end to the proliferation of different markings on packaging. As a gateway to a variety of information, the new code is intended to provide comprehensive information: from the current purchase price, best-before date and batch number to nutritional tables and consumer communication. Above all, it should be able to serve target groups precisely: Logistics, wholesalers, retailers and end consumers.

The entry into the new information age requires high-quality marking - and the certainty that the codes are complete and legible. The full-range supplier REA Elektronik offers all of this from a single source.  It has been successfully transferring the expertise it has gained in the highly regulated pharmaceutical industry to the food sector for a long time. At Anuga FoodTec 2024, REA Elektronik will be showcasing excerpts from its coordinated product lines REA JET for non-contact digital printing, REA LABEL for industrial labeling systems and REA VERIFIER for code verification.

New at Anuga FoodTec: REA JET UP for high-quality printing on smooth surfaces High-contrast and equally reliable coding printing on absorbent substrates such as paper, cardboard or wood and smooth surfaces such as coated and finished packaging: this is made possible by the new piezo-based REA JET UP coding technology. UP stands for "Universal Print", because the system is a multi-talent. It marks with a wide variety of inks, from oil-based and slightly solvent-based to light-curing inks for materials on which no other would dry. This makes marking with the newcomer ideal for secondary packaging that needs to be both attractive and informative. REA JET UP prints at print heights of up to 108 mm per cascadable print head and with a resolution of up to 1,600 dpi - even small characters are very easy to read. And like all REA JET systems, REA JET UP also supports Industry 4.0 processes and integrates seamlessly into production.

High-resolution direct printing for unmixed disposal

The other systems that REA Elektronik will be showcasing from its comprehensive range at Anuga FoodTec can also drive forward the digitalization and modernization of the industry. Like the REA JET HR 2.0, whose high-resolution direct printing can contribute to greater sustainability in the company. Its inks are solvent-free. With its wet-on-wet technology, it also prints easily legible codes and markings in a single step in a self-printed color mirror - on absorbent and non-absorbent surfaces. This makes it possible to dispense with the labeling of transparent or coloured plastic packaging, for example, and thus dispose of it according to type.

Visitors to Anuga FoodTec 2024 will also find solutions at the REA Elektronik booth for marking that requires labels: a REA LABEL print dispenser, the REA LABEL ColorJet 2, a compact color label printer for small and medium quantities "on demand", and the REA LABEL 5-color label printer for exceptionally brilliant, UV-stable and scratch-resistant labels that set the product apart from the competition. Also on show: the stars of the VERIFIER family - the REA VeriCube and the REA VeriMax for reliable code verification, mobile and inline.
