Traceable Marking of Aluminum Products

Increasing demands for traceability, digitization, and automation make reliable marking of aluminum products essential.

REA offers integrated solutions for this purpose throughout the entire production and supply chain: Variable data such as lot codes, material, thickness, and alloy information, as well as 2D Codes, are applied precisely and contact-free to rolled ingots, press billets, coils, plates, strips, castings, and pallets using the REA JET DOD and REA JET ST.

Robust ink and paint systems ensure permanent readability of markings even under harsh conditions in foundries and blast furnaces—thereby laying the foundation for safe processes, reliable traceability, and future requirements such as the Digital Product Passport.

Marking at Extreme Temperatures—600°C and Higher

Did you know that we not only manufacture the systems, but also develop the inks and paints? That’s why we always find the most suitable marking and coding and marking solution for your applications and products.

The new REA JET ST SRE-10 electric spray mark block enables large-format, well readable markings up to 206 millimeters in height. For hot surfaces, REA’s glow-in-the-dark paint—which has been proven worldwide for years—is also available for temperatures of 600 °C and higher.

Permanent Laser Marking

Laser marking systems are useful when aluminum surfaces have to be marked. The automotive industry, for example, uses them for forgery-proof marking of components. Other industries with very high security standards also use laser engraving to mark metal parts in a way that are well readable. This also ensures traceability throughout the entire supply chain. Laser markers use laser light to permanently alter the surface of metals, creating markings that are particularly abrasion-resistant and resistant to heat and acids.

Marking aluminum profiles with high contrast during the production process

Using wet-on-wet printing, the REA JET HR marks extruded aluminum profiles in a single step. Colored fields, plain text, and 1D and 2D codes are applied immediately one after another without any additional drying time. This ensures high contrast, excellent readability, and high first-pass reading rates—even for variable information such as dates, times, shift codes, meter readings, or database content. This maintains production output while the colored fields and marking dry together in the shortest possible time.
