Porsches individual customizing center (Porsche Exclusive Manufaktur) in Zuffenhausen has set itself the goal to print the fingerprint of its car owners directly onto the hood - it can hardly become any more personal and unique. Really cool and it looks so much higher in quality than all other known alternatives such as film application!
The experts at Porsche Paint Shop have thoroughly tested almost any systems for direct printing available on the market and examined them for suitability and process stability. At the end, the REA JET DOD 2.0 TITAN generation, newly developed in Muehltal near Darmstadt and manufactured here in Germany, was awarded the contract.
With the help of our 32 nozzles REA JET DOD 2.0 print head, the lacquer is applied automatically and without overspray to three-dimensional components. "The ability to control the REA JET nozzles individually permits targeted application of every paint droplet" explains Christian Will, Head of Production Development at Porsche AG. "The complexity is due to the necessity of harmonising three technologies: robot technology (control, sensors, programming), application technology (REA JET print head, graphic handling) and paint technology (application process, paint).
Even though hardly anyone of us will register ourselves in the owner's gallery of a 911 in the future, we consider this as a huge compliment and an award for REA!
