Flexible Inline Marking of Extruded Plastic Tubes and Profiles

How can extruded plastic pipes and profiles be marked in a flexible, clean, and future-proof way? At FAKUMA 2026, REA will present the new REA LASER ExtruMark 200—a mobile, plug-and-play turnkey solution for customized inline marking in continuous operation.

Mühltal, August 13, 2026 – To comply with the Digital Product Passport (DPP) and the increasingly required traceability, each part has to be individually marked. The analog printing systems or embossing wheels widely used for extruded plastic pipe and profile marking are cumbersome to operate and will soon reach their limits. At Fakuma 2026, REA Elektronik will present the mobile turnkey solution for inline laser marking: the REA LASER ExtruMark 200.

The REA LASER ExtruMark 200 is mounted on casters and, thanks to its “plug-and-play” design, can be rolled to wherever it is needed for the immediate marking of freshly extruded parts. With its scalable design, it can perform marking on tubes and profiles with diameters ranging from 5 to 200 millimeters. The parts are guided through the safely shielded laser cabin (Class 1), where they are marked with important information—ranging from material designations and application instructions to lot numbers, logos, and 2D Codes—using focused light via engraving or color change. The REA LASER ExtruMark 200 operates without ink, labels, or solvents. It also requires minimal maintenance, which helps avoid costly production downtime.

Various lasers and combinations with ink or code verification systems

“In extrusion in particular, traditional, consumable-based coding and marking solutions impact processes and drive up operating costs,” says Daniel Wege, Business Development Manager at REA Elektronik. “In contrast, our new turnkey solution for laser marking integrates seamlessly into production and is designed for continuous industrial inline operation in demanding environments.” This is particularly relevant in light of new marking regulations such as the DPP.

Depending on the application, a CO2 Laser, fiber laser, or UV laser is installed. Companies that extrude various materials can combine the main laser with a different printing technology, such as a REA JET HR inkjet printer. It is also possible to add a code verification system for immediate quality control of the markings.

With the REA LASER ExtruMark 200, companies can reduce printing and operating costs and ensure that their marking technology is future-proof.

Collaborative Projects Involving Injection Molding Technology

In addition, two collaborative projects between REA and Dr. Boy involving injection molding machines will be on display at Fakuma. At the REA booth, a Dr. Boy injection molding machine produces a combination of a spoon on one side and a fork on the other, which is then individually marked right before the visitor’s eyes using a REA LASER according to the visitor’s wishes—via a color change of an additive that has been incorporated into the plastic.

At the Dr. Boy booth, an exhibit called “Electric Barista” is on display: A cup is manufactured from plastic and individually marked by a fiber laser before being filled with the visitor’s choice of specialty coffee and handed to them by a robot. In addition, REA will showcase further digital coding and marking solutions for thermoplastics, thermosets, and elastomers at its booth.

Visit REA Elektronik from October 12–16 at Fakuma 2026 at the Friedrichshafen Exhibition Center: Hall A7, Booth A7-7106.
